Glacier Basin and Steamboat Prow

Glacier Basin

This is a nice hike along the Inter Fork of the White River. Glacier Basin is somewhat historic in that it was once a mining camp. Remnants of the mining operation can be seen along the trail. The trail into the basin is nearly snow-free to within about a half mile of the basin, but the basin still has a considerable amount of snow and it is best to follow the Inter Fork all the way to the basin rather than try to find the maintained trail. A nice side trip along the way is the Emmons Moraine Trail which departs the main trail at about one mile.
